The nonprofit group DotHIV is proposing to launch a “.hiv” top-level Internet domain name that would generate funds to fight HIV/AIDS, DomainNameWire.com reports. The group seeks $150,000 to apply for the domain and has turned to crowdfunding to raise the money. The group claims that users of .hiv sites will be able to direct funds to the HIV/AIDS charities of their choosing.
