Low Enrollment in DC Medical Marijuana Program
Strict policies by the Washington, DC, City Council are being blamed for low enrollment in its medical marijuana program, The Washington Times reports. The first city dispensary has enrolled just 59 patients since it opened for business in July, which is far below original estimates. Advocates suggest the program expand eligibility beyond people with HIV/AIDS, cancer, glaucoma and conditions such as multiple sclerosis. They also claim patients and their providers are afraid of breaking federal law by enrolling.
