Reports that police were searching for a man intentionally spreading HIV to hundreds of people in the New York tri-state area are false, Examiner.com reports. The original story about Isaac Don Burks appeared to come from the website of WNBC in New York City, but it actually came from a fake site made to look like it. The link to the original story no longer goes to the fake site, but now goes to a 2010 article on the website of WRDW in Augusta, Georgia, about his alleged involvement in criminal activity. A spokesperson for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene confirmed to the Examiner.com that the story is false. Burks issued a statement via Facebook saying he would pray for whomever was responsible for creating the hoax.
