716 Possible HIV, Hep Exposures at Buffalo VA Medical Center
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, more than 700 patients at the Buffalo VA Medical Center in New York state may have been exposed to HIV, as well as hepatitis B or C, The Buffalo News reports. The cause for concern was the reuse of insulin pens between October 19, 2010, and November 1, 2012, that were supposed to be used only once. The VA says that 716 patients may have been exposed and that 570 of them are still living.
