About half of people with HIV in Australia have had their status disclosed without their permission and have experienced HIV-related stigma, The Age reports. Two new reports show that friends and colleagues were the guiltiest about unauthorized disclosure, followed by physicians and health care workers. About half of the respondents said they always or occasionally felt “ashamed” or “blamed” with sexual partners, and about a third felt that way with family and friends.
