To commemorate U.S. National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, May 19, the Banyan Tree Project—a national campaign funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—has released four 30-second HIV public service announcements (PSAs), USNewswire/Yahoo News reports (news.yahoo.com, 5/19).
The PSAs highlight the increase in HIV cases among U.S. Asian and Pacific Islander communities, the need for HIV testing and the importance of compassion for HIV-positive people. The announcements feature award-winning actress, director and producer Joan Chen; Hawaiian singer and songwriter Amy Hanaialii Gillion; and actor Jason Kyson Lee, from NBC’s Heroes.
