Arkansas Recommends HIV, Hep Tests for 100 Dental Patients
Arkansas health officials are ordering blood tests for about 100 dental patients of a deceased dentist, The Associated Press reports. Officials are concerned patients may have been sedated with drugs from potentially tampered vials, which could possibly be contaminated with infectious material. The tests will screen for hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis. Officials would not say how William Jarrod Stewart, DDS, died last year, except that his death was not the result of an infectious cause.
