Arizona officials are seeking to tax medical marijuana in their state, azcentral.com reports. Proposition 203 to legalize medical marijuana in Arizona was narrowly approved by voters in November 2010. Arizona tax laws exempt prescriptions from sales tax. However, even though a physician must recommend medical marijuana, it is technically a “certification” and therefore subject to taxation. State officials estimate the tax could bring in more than $40 million a year.
