A Swiss court has indicted an unlicensed acupuncturist for deliberately transmitting HIV to 16 people by pricking them, The Associated Press reports. The unidentified man, who is HIV negative, faces charges of intentionally spreading human disease and causing serious bodily harm, which carry maximum penalties of five to 10 years. The cases go back more than a decade. Prosecutors say the probe took years to complete because of difficulties identifying victims while adhering to protections for patient privacy.
