Wisconsin Clinic Warns of Possible HIV, Hepatitis Exposure
The Dean Clinic in Madison, Wisconsin, is in the process of tracking down hundreds of patients after a nurse may have exposed them to HIV and hepatitis, The Huffington Post reports. Clinic officials said a nurse working between 2006 and 2011 may have exposed 2,345 patients to HIV, as well as hepatitis B and C, by improperly using an insulin demonstration pen (which looks like a hypodermic needle) on them instead of on an orange or a pillow to show patients how to use the device. Clinic officials said that patients are probably not in any danger but recommended they be tested for HIV and hepatitis.
