ViiV Gives $1.5M to 82 Projects Worldwide for Children
The ViiV Healthcare Positive Action for Children Fund has awarded about $1.5 million in small grants to 82 projects in 21 countries, according to a ViiV statement. The grants were awarded to projects that aim to improve the health of women, children and families living with HIV and work toward preventing mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of the virus. The grants support the U.N.’s global plan to eliminate MTCT by 2015. While MTCT is preventable in a vast majority of cases, more than 1,000 children become HIV positive every day and in sub-Saharan Africa.
