Robert Frascino, MD—a longtime HIV/AIDS advocate known as “Dr. Bob” in the online community—died of bacterial sepsis in Mountain View, California, The New York Times reports. He was 59. Among the earliest doctors specializing in HIV/AIDS, Frascino gave up his medical practice in 1996 to become a full-time activist and fund-raiser. A concert pianist, he also cofounded the Concerted Effort series of HIV/AIDS benefit concerts with his husband, Stephen Natterstad, MD. A memorial is scheduled for November 11 at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga, California. Donations will be accepted by The Robert James Frascino AIDS Foundation, 1000 Fremont Avenue, Suite 145, Los Altos, CA 94024.
