Longtime HIV/AIDS advocate Randy Allgaier died on November 27 in San Francisco, according to a statement from the Communities Advocating Emergency AIDS Relief (CAEAR) Coalition. Throughout his life, Allgaier worked to give a voice to people living with HIV and to attain LGBT equality. Some of the groups he worked with include the San Francisco AIDS Coalition, the National Positive Working Coalition (focusing on HIV and Medicare/Medicaid), Equality California, the Human Rights Campaign and Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS). Allgaier worked to ensure everyone has quality access to medical treatment. Allgaier is survived by his husband, Lee Hawn.
