Australian HIV activists criticized the firm Adshel for pulling from Queensland bus shelters a safe-sex ad featuring two fully clothed gay men hugging, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reports. Thirty complaints were filed against the ad. The Australian Christian Lobby wanted the posters taken down from public space, stating that the image of two men holding a condom was too sexual. Queensland Association for Healthy Communities, which receives state funding, created the “Rip & Roll” campaign in response to 2010 testing data showing new HIV diagnoses surpassing those of the mid-1980s. Young gay men accounted for 65 percent of those newly diagnosed with HIV.
