The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has asked California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris to investigate possible unlawful conduct in the transfer of a clinic that catered to the porn industry, according to an AHF statement. The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM)—a nonprofit clinic financed by porn production companies—was sold and reopened as AIM Medical Associates, a for-profit clinic. It can now avoid regulatory scrutiny by public health officials, and it can protect itself from liabilities from its clients. The clinic had been operating without a proper state license since it opened in 1998. As a result, Los Angeles County had closed the clinic. It came under fire recently after an adult film star tested HIV positive.
