Housing Works held its first annual Groundbreaker Awards to honor individuals for their significant contribution to the fight to end HIV/AIDS and homelessness in New York City. Honorees included Andy Cohen (executive vice president of development and talent at Bravo), Russell Hicks (president of content and development of Nickelodeon) and James Huniford (interior designer). Funny lady Rachel Dratch hosted the event, which took place April 24 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and included a silent and live auction.

The awards ceremony kicked off Housing Works’ annual fundraiser Design on a Dime. The popular event features the work of some the world’s top interior designers who create room vignettes with merchandise that is donated and then sold at a discount with the proceeds benefitting Housing Works.

This year’s Design on a Dime will support Housing Works’ newest housing development, the Hull Street Residence in Brooklyn.
