Buffett Gives Billions to Fight Global Disease

June 27, 2006—Warren Buffet, the world’s second richest man, announced yesterday that he will donate $31 billion of his personal fortune to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. His announcement came days after Bill Gates, number one on the billionaire list, announced plans to work full-time for his foundation, which focuses on fighting diseases like HIV.
