U.S. AIDS Workers Say PEPFAR Falls Short
June 20, 2006—Programs in Africa run by the U.S. Presidential Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) came under fire last week from their own administrators during a conference about PEPFAR in South Africa. There were complaints about the shortage of contraception info, inadequate focus on the prevention needs of men who have sex with men and requirements that local AIDS groups meet unrealistic standards in order to work with PEPFAR.
