Thou (Still) Shalt Not Use Condoms

June 12, 2006—The Vatican Pontifical Council for the Family issued a statement last week that dashed hopes since April that the Catholic Church leadership might make an HIV exception to its strict anti-condom stance. The Council is led by Cardinal Alfonso Lopex Trujilo, who claimed in 2003 that condoms have defects that allow HIV to pass through.
