Dems Debate Race and AIDS
Senator Hillary Clinton received a standing ovation last night for saying that, “If HIV/AIDS were the leading cause of death of white women between the ages of 25 and 34, there would be an outraged outcry in this country.” Her comments—a reference to statistics among young black women—came in a debate among Democratic Party presidential candidates at Howard University and followed praise from New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson for the Bush administration’s response to HIV/AIDS in Africa.
