Study: Refugees Aren’t Boosting HIV Rates
A study published in The Lancet this week finds that war, rape and forced displacement in sub-Saharan Africa have not increased HIV rates as expected. The researchers say that these forces may alter sexual behavior in a way that actually reduces HIV transmission. On the other hand, refugees may become more vulnerable to HIV after their displacement.
