Kenya’s HIV Rate Drops

Kenyan officials said today that the HIV/AIDS rate in the country has dropped to 5.9 percent, down from 6.1 percent in 2004. New infections have also declined, from 85,000 in 2004 to 60,000 in 2005. Still, the government warns, it will take extreme measures to achieve the 2010 goal of 5.5 percent.
