African Soldiers Have HIV Too

Many countries in Africa test recruits for HIV and ban the participation of positive troops, raising concerns about soldiers’ rights as well as whether the continent’s armed forces can afford to lose so many enlisted men. In some countries, more soldiers have been killed by HIV than in combat, and caring for an HIV positive service member can prove costly.
