Bush Seeks $30 Billion for PEPFAR

President Bush today urged Congress to approve a plan to double the U.S. commitment to fighting AIDS in Africa over the next five years. The plan would mean a $30 billion increase to the President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which would provide treatment for 2.5 million people.
