The Bloody Truth
The British government knew that hemophiliacs were in danger of being infected with HIV and hepatitis C from blood products in 1983, but failed to warn patients about the risks, according to minutes obtained by the Guardian. The minutes reveal that the Committee of Safety of Medicines feared that stopping shipments from areas with high HIV incidence such as California and New York could cause a shortage of supplies.
