Pediatric AIDS Clinic Signs Off

The Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trial Group at the University of California in San Francisco has lost its funding because so few children are born HIV positive in the area that the center doesn’t qualify for federal support. When the group started up in the late ‘80s, about 30% of babies born to HIV positive mothers in the United States were positive; now it’s less than 1%.
