Film editor and actor James Lyons, known for his work on films like “Safe” and “Far from Heaven,” died last week in Manhattan of squamous cell skin cancer. Lyons, who was 46 and HIV positive and once a member of ACT UP, viewed film as a key medium for spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS, according to the New York Times.
