Scientists Try to Cure Cystic Fibrosis—Using HIV
A British scientist may have discovered a way of piggybacking corrective genes onto HIV—and then transporting them into the lungs of babies with cystic fibrosis before they are born and repair the gene that causes the disease. Cystic fibrosis causes mucus to clogs up the lungs. Like HIV, it’s life threatening and has no cure.
