Herpes Med Reduces HIV Viral Load

Taking antiviral valacyclovir to treat herpes also reduces HIV viral load among  women infected with both viruses, according to an article in the New England Journal of Medicine. Herpes increases a woman’s chances of becoming infected with HIV, but the antiviral reduces the chance of passing it on.
