L.A. Patients Turned Away

HIV positive Los Angelenos are turned away from health care in shockingly high numbers, according to a study released by the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy. Fifty-six percent of skilled nursing facilities, 47% of obstetricians and 26% of plastic surgeons say they refer people with HIV to other providers, in spite of laws against such discrimination.
