D.C. Free Clinic Closes Its Doors
After nearly 40 years of operation, the Washington Free Clinic is closing its doors today, citing “today’s administratively burdensome healthcare environment” as the reason for the shutdown. The first of its kind on the East Coast, the clinic provided no- or low-cost care to anyone in need, including many people with HIV. Staffers have been offered jobs at the area’s Whitman-Walker Clinic.
