GAO to Feds: Don’t Lie About Condoms
October 20, 2006—The Government Accountability Office issued a statement yesterday reminding the Department of Health and Human Services that all information issued about condoms and sexually transmitted diseases must be scientifically accurate. The statement did not point out any specific inaccuracies in the existing literature but was welcomed by groups who argue that Bush administration-backed abstinence programs exaggerate condom failure rates.
