All this talk about continuation of ARV into the future and the ambition of having everyone, globally, taking some for off anti HIV drug forever .... what is being made of advances toward a cure? This, for example ... https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/11/08/hiv-cure-aids-american-gene-technologies-food-drug-administration/ Or will this too become one more piece of cure news that disappears into the woodwork like so many others before it?

EvanX, a cure is still being sought. And a cure, when worked out, will then both cure existing infections and prevent new ones. A cure, alas, has been and is still being elusive. But, until then ARVs and the prevention strategies involving the use of PrEP, PEP and of course condoms are all we have to work with.

As Bill Gates said at the International AIDS Conference, “We’re not going to treat our way out of this epidemic.” Prevention is useless for those already suffering with Stage3-HIV and its many complex symptoms. So these two guys want to throw us under the bus and just wait for us to die a slow agonizing DEATH? Screw them _ The only hope we have left is a CURE, plain and simple! So stop tilting at the windmills of prevention & maintenance & vaccines. You don't get it! COMMIT TO THE CURE!

I mean, we all or many of us - me included - might want to have free sex, use no protection, etc, even with a stranger or with strangers, but to do so is and would be stupid and irresponsible. We have strong sexual desires, but we have minds, too. This goes of course for past, present and future.

Many people who became HIV+ have been irresponsible in the past. If they had suspected that they might have HIV then they ought to have been more responsible with others. Many people who didn't have HIV have also been irresponsible, too, by having used no protection for themselves. Hence, this and other viruses and bacteria have spread and continue to spread as they do. Care taking by each person still has to be part of the global effort to end HIV and other virus and bacteria transfers.
