Ali Gertz's story inspired me to be open with my daughter about sexuality. I tell my daughter that I would prefer that she abstain from sex as a teen but that if she does decide to become sexually active to use contraception and make sure that her male partner uses a condom for protection against sexually transmitted diseases.

I have not been personally affected by aids myself,but I was lucky enough to attend one of ali gertz' lectures on aids awareness and it made a huge impression.Im still thinking about her all these years later wishing she could have had the things she dreamed of and continued to bless us all with her presence rather than dying in bed with this horrid disease.Everytime I see the footage of her last days alive,so gaunt,frail and weak,I am so saddened.
