Survey: HIV Docs and Patients Don't Always See Eye-to-Eye
According to results of national surveys released today in the Journal of the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (JIAPAC), 95% of HIV-treating physicians surveyed said they believe half or fewer of their patients "typically understand" what they are told about HIV and its treatment.

HPV Vaccine Receives Approval Recommendation
An advisory committee to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has voted unanimously to recommend approval of Gardasil®, a vaccine that has been proven to be safe and effective for the prevention of cervical cancer and pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix, vulva, and vagina caused by two common strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV).

Updated Treatment Guidelines Published
The Guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV Infected Adults and Adolescents have been revised to include up-to-date treatment information, including new recommendations for resistance testing, treatment interruption, and HBV/HIV co-infection.
